Chief Executive Officer
Paul DeWeese is the Chief Executive Officer of EPIC International. In addition to his role at EPIC, Mr. DeWeese serves on the Board of Directors for Capstone Turbine Corp. (Nasdaq: CPST) and has been a director since August, 2016. Prior to EPIC, Mr. DeWeese served as Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Oilfield Products, Inc., an aftermarket supplier for drilling rigs in the upstream oil and gas industry, from May 2012 through April 2015. Before joining Southwest Oilfield Products, Mr. DeWeese worked for Socotherm S.p.A., a pipe coating company based in Italy as its Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to Socotherm, Mr. DeWeese served as President of CRC-Evans Automatic Welding, a world leader in welding systems for onshore and offshore pipeline construction projects, providing an extensive range of equipment for a variety of project applications. Mr. DeWeese spent 13 years with Cameron International Corporation in various leadership roles handling their centrifugal compressor and reciprocating compressor aftermarket business. Mr. DeWeese received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Regis University, and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.
Joe Winkler serves on the Board of Directors for Epic International. He previously served as the Chairman of the Board and an advisor for Downhole Technology prior to its sale to Schoeller Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment in April 2016.
Mr. Winkler has been in the oilfield services industry for over 30 years. Most recently, Mr. Winkler served as CEO of Complete Production Services, a publicly traded oilfield services company providing completion and production services to major U.S. oil & gas basins, and was acquired by Superior Energy Services in February 2012. Prior to joining Complete, Mr. Winkler served as President, COO and CFO of Varco International, a leading oilfield equipment manufacturer based in Houston, TX. Prior to Varco, Mr. Winkler held several management positions with Tuboscope and Baker Hughes and previously served as CFO and Controller of Tiger Oil Company, working directly for Edward “Tiger Mike” Davis. He started his career as a CPA at Arthur Young & Company in 1974.
Mr. Winkler also serves on the board of directors of Commercial Metals, Hi-Crush Partners, Eclipse Resources and Tetra Technologies.
Mr. Winkler attended Louisiana State University and received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1973.
Managing Partner and Founder of Pelican Energy Partners
Mr. Scott has over 20 years of private equity and energy industry experience and serves on the EPIC Board of Directors. Prior to founding Pelican Energy Partners, Mr. Scott spent 4 years as a principal at Sorenson Capital Partners, a private equity fund in Salt Lake City, Utah with $650 million under management. During this time, he led 3 platform transactions in the energy services sectors and several transactions in other industry sectors. He served as chairman of the board of NCS Energy Services and a board director of Southeast Directional Drilling and M&M Pipeline.
Prior to joining Sorenson Capital Partners, Mr. Scott worked at Cameron International Corporation, a multi-national oilfield equipment company where he worked in corporate development and reported directly to the CFO. He also held various other management positions in global sourcing and project management and lean manufacturing, and he played a key role in implementing lean manufacturing techniques in manufacturing plants throughout the U.S. and Europe. Prior to attending business school, Mr. Scott spent 6 years in engineering roles at Valtek International Ltd. and AlliedSignal Inc, where he worked in product development and designed several new products for gas turbine based industrial power generation. He holds 5 patents and has received several design and technical achievement awards.
Mr. Scott received a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Franklin is widely respected throughout the oilfield services sector as an investor, manager and mentor. Prior to his role on the EPIC Board of Directors Franklin was a Senior Advisor to Cameron International Corporation (formerly known as Cooper Cameron Corporation), a publicly traded provider of flow equipment products, systems and services, from April 2008 through March 2009. Before April 2008, Mr. Myers was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Cameron.
Mr. Myers became Senior Vice President of Cameron in 1995, and served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Cameron from 1995 to 1999, as well as President of its Cooper Energy Services Division from 1998 until 2001. Prior to joining Cameron, he was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Baker Hughes Incorporated, an oilfield services and equipment provider, and an attorney and partner with the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. in Houston, Texas.
Franklin is active in the local community and serves on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America (Sam Houston Council) and is a Trustee for the Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, an all girls’ school in Houston. Franklin received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University and a J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Mississippi.
Vice President of Pelican Energy Partners
Chris joined Pelican Energy Partners in 2014 as a Senior Associate. His responsibilities include deal origination, financial modeling, due diligence, transaction execution and portfolio company monitoring.
Prior to joining Pelican, Chris was the Manager of Corporate Development for Forum Energy Technologies where he focused on oilfield product and equipment acquisitions and divestitures and supported corporate strategy efforts. Prior to joining Forum, Chris was a Senior Analyst in the Energy Investment Banking group of Raymond James where he focused on strategic advisory and M&A transactions for companies across the upstream, midstream and oilfield service sectors. Prior to Raymond James, Chris qualified as a CPA while working for Deloitte.
Chris currently serves on the Boards of Elite Multiphase Solutions, Multilift Wellbore Technology and Epic Industrial Solutions. He previously served on the Board of Downhole Technology prior to its sale to Schoeller Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment in April 2016.
Chris graduated from Texas A&M University, summa cum laude, with an MS in Finance and BBA in Accounting. Chris is a member of Young Professionals in Energy, Young Professionals in Finance and Small Steps Young Professionals.
